FIRST OF ALL ALLIE AND DEAN WAS A ROMANCE I DID NOT SEE COMING. Sean is so controlling for wanting Allie to be a homemaker, and I can confirm he progressively does not get better. In the earlier books Dean is portrayed as a jock who just likes to sleep with girls, but with Allie he is genuine. I hated to see that Allie's dad was right and Dean completely lost himself in drinking and drugs after Beau's death instead of staying strong like Allie hopes. However, he does take care of Allie's dad when he has a sprained wrist when he and Allie are broken up, so that made me (and Allie) like him again.
