Intro

Princess and Bodyguard. Employer and employee. All the power and none at all. Ultimate attraction, but they can’t be together.

When Princess Bridget von Ascheberg of Eldorra’s longtime bodyguard Booth goes on paternity leave, she hopes for a replacement who can be as kind as he is and share the same type of bond that the two of them have. But when Bridget meets her new bodyguard Rhys who turns out to be the exact opposite of Booth, she is infuriated. Rhys Larsen is the most ungrateful person Bridget’s ever met, and she is convinced he is the worst person to ever exist. Unfortunately, he is also the most breathtakingly gorgeous person Bridget has ever laid eyes on. As Rhys shadows Booth to get a sense for Bridget’s lifestyle, he becomes increasingly more annoying, and Bridget’s unlimited sarcasm doesn’t make it any easier for Rhys either. The stricter Rhys is about guarding Bridget, the more Bridget starts to see little glimpses of his past which allows her to develop a soft spot for the part of him that shares his life with her. Most of the time she considers him the most arrogant person alive, but when he opens up to her, it makes her even more attracted to him, and she is then compelled to share parts of her life with him. As they begin to be more vulnerable with each other, their attraction grows, but they are constantly reminded of how they could never possibly be together since Rhys is a bodyguard and Bridget is a princess. Nevertheless, through the many restrictions their love grows stronger even though the two of them know they have every possible reason why they shouldn’t be doing this. When there is an unexpected change and Bridget finds herself the heir to the throne she never thought she would rule, she and Rhys must make the hardest decision: either they defy an entire country to be together or they face the biggest and most destructive heartbreak.

How I came across the book

When I finished Twisted Love, I was so in shock and amazed by the entire book. I was convinced it was the best book I had ever read and I was just obsessed with it, so obviously I had to read the next one. The fact that Twisted Games could somehow be even better than Twisted Love is just crazy. I loved this book so much and I was in awe of the level of detail and emotion. This book made me cry at the end and my brother was just standing there as I was finishing it and he must have been so weirded out to just see me reading this book and sobbing my eyes out. I don’t actually think I have ever cried because of a book before reading this.

Other books by the author/In the series

Twisted Games is the second book in the Twisted Series, along with Twisted Love, Twisted Hate and Twisted Lies. Ana Huang has another series called the Kings of Sin series which I currently have not read.

Who else would like this

Fans of the forbidden love trope and are obsessed with men who would break all their rules for their women. Also people who can’t get enough of two characters doing absolutely everything to be together.

Rating: 10/10 even better than the first book which I didn’t think was possible and then I understood. I thought it was really sweet how we got an inside glimpse at the relationship between Bridget and her grandfather behind closed doors. I was crying at the chapter when she visits him in the hospital and calls him Grandpa, and she explains that is only a name she calls him when she is alone because to the outside world he is her king, and they treat each other so well and kindly. When Bridget heard the news that her grandfather was sick and in the hospital she cares about him so deeply and tries to prevent him from doing daily activities so he won’t have another heart attack, and even when he is in the hospital he tells her jokes and try to make her laugh even though he knows how worried she is for him. This made me cry because it reminded me of the relationship that I had with my grandfather, and I appreciated the detail of complex family dynamics in this book.
