Intro
Josh Chen and Jules Ambrose hate each other. They always have and they always will. They would both rather jump into a pool of fire than have to interact with one another, but Jules is the lifelong best friend of Josh’s younger sister Ava ever since the two girls met in their freshman year of college, so Josh and Jules are never getting rid of each other no matter how much both of them would pay to. They are the exact same: arrogant, confident, ambitious, and never afraid to back down from a challenge. When they go to a bar, Josh gives Jules a proposition: whoever can get the first phone numbers in one hour gets bragging rights. In less than ten minutes, Jules has gotten twenty-seven numbers just by using her confidence and looks to her advantage. Josh admires how confident Jules is, but the truth is that she comes from a traumatic past. After being kicked by her mom who cared more about her new husband than her daughter, Jules found herself trapped in a controlling long-term relationship. After an attempt to get more money to make ends meet goes horribly wrong and results in her ex being in jail, Jules flees Ohio forever and never looks back, and moving to DC allowed her to completely start over where no one has to know about her old life. She has since then built up the reputation of the witty, confident, ambitious woman she is today that everyone who knows her recognizes her as. When an almost-accident involving a car and higher-than-normal adrenaline leads to an unexpected night where they both make choices neither of them ever thought they would make with each other, and for some reason just one night isn’t good enough. No matter how much they hate each other, they need more of each other. So they form an arrangement: to become enemies with benefits. Just sex, no feelings, no strings attached, purely a release from the stress of both of their chaotic lives. As this arrangement continues throughout the book and they interact with each other a lot more through their work, they start to hate each other less and less, and they both find themselves sharing with each other things they never thought they would share with anyone. And when Jules’ past comes back to haunt her, Josh stands up for her in ways that he never would previously. Jules and Josh would previously rather do anything else than have to interact with one another, but now, they can’t imagine their lives without each other.
How I came across the book
Obviously I couldn’t just read two books in the Twisted series and not read the third one. Plus I was really excited about this one because the best friend’s brother trope is one I had never read before (brother’s best friend is not the same thing with Alex and Ava) and Jules and Josh are two beloved characters that we know from the first two books, and in the first book we get to see a little bit of the enemies dynamic between Josh and Jules, so I was excited that we get to explore it way more in this book.
Other books by the author/In the series
This book is the 3rd book in the Twisted Series, and Ana Huang has another series called Kings of Sin which I am planning to read.
The good

The bad
WHEN JOSH BREAKS UP WITH JULES AND HURTS HER SO BAD BY JUST HOOKING UP WITH HER AND THEN BREAKING HER HEART AND BEING SO BITTER AND CRUEL AND DEMANDING THAT SHE GET OUT OF HIS HOUSE EVEN THO SHE APOLOGIZED FOR STEALING THE PAINTING
The first time Jules slept over where ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAPPENED SHE JUST SLEPT OVER BC IT WAS TOO LATE AND DANGEROUS TO GO BACK TO HER HOUSE SO SHE WAS STUCK AT HIS HOUSE was very anti-climactic and I would have loved to see some tension but there was none
THE FLASHBACKS OF HOW MAX WOULD TREAT HER WAS DISGUSTING I HATED IT
WHEN MAX PUSHED HER DOWN THE STAIRS BUT THEN SHE HAD TO BE TREATED BY JOSH AND THEY HAD TO TALK LIKE REGULAR PATIENT AND DOCTOR AND NOT THEY KNEW ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ABOUT EACH OTHER AND THERE WAS SO MUCH UNSPOKEN TENSION BETWEEN THEM BUT THEY ALSO BOTH HATED AND MISSED THE OTHER PERSON AT THE SAME TIME SO THEY COULDN’T DO ANYTHING AND STILL HAD TO ACT PROFESSIONAL
Who else would like this
ONLY ONE BED TROPE FANS and obsessers of INTENSE PASSIONATE ANGRY enemies to lovers
Rating: 8/10 Honestly in my personal opinion the book was really slow to get to the romance and tension parts like the first 150 pages were just Jules and Josh talking and obviously enemies but they were acting more like frenemies than enemies to lovers which I don’t like because i think it’s boring and I just wanna get to the good stuff because it’s obviously a romance book we only want the romance not boring conversations before the tension and longing even starts which kinda has no point. Also, I know the whole point is for them to be enemies with benefits, but whenever they have sex they are always angry at each other and need a release, but there are no actual feelings involved, whereas in the other books it is actually passionate which I like much because the characters actually have real feelings for each other.
