Intro

After killing the king of Ilya, Paedyn Gray has fled the watchful eyes of the Elites and is now hiding in her hometown of the slums. Except that Kai, who she once longed for desperately, is now willing to stop at nothing to find and kill her. But to both of their surprises, their newfound hatred for each other doesn't overpower their history and their still present thoughts of each other and what they once almost were. So when Kai finally finds Paedyn and is under strict orders to bring her back to the kingdom and to Kitt who has every intention of killing her, will they stay loyal to their duties of what they are supposed to be as enemies or will they be tempted by their unwanted feelings?

The Good

• Even though Kai hates Paedyn for killing his dad and plans to kill her he still buries the man she killed in Loot because he knows she would have wanted to bury him instead of running

• Kai chooses his fighter name as Flame because Paedyn's is Shadow and says where there is flame there is shadow and says SHE IS HIS INEVITABLE

• KAI PULLS THE SCARF FROM PAEDYN'S FACE AND SHE MELTS AT HIS TOUCH AND HE SAYS SHE PROMISED TO BE HIS UNDOING AND TELLS HER TO PROVE IT AND HATE HIM ENOUGH TO MAKE HIM WANT HER AND THEN THEY KISS EVEN THOUGH THEY HATE EACH OTHER BUT THEY NEED EACH OTHER

• DURING THE FIGHT KAI SAYS THEY ARE CARRYING ON AS NORMAL AS ENEMIES SO NOW THEY CAN HAVE THEIR ENEMIES TO LOVERS

• Paedyn's hands are on Kai's shoulders in the ring and HE GETS FLASHBACKS TO WHEN THEY DANCED AT NIGHT ALONE IN THE WHISPERS DURING THE TRIALS

• She pulls off his scarf in the ring and he says THAT WAS A MISTAKE DARLING

• Kai wants Paedyn to fight for him and BURN FOR HIM EVEN IF IT MEANS WITH HATRED

• They got JUST ONE ROOM to stay in which means ONLY ONE BED

• HE THINKS IF IT WAS IN ANOTHER LIFE AND ANOTHER CHANCE TO CHOOSE EACH OTHER HE WOULD BE IN THAT BED BESIDE HER

• Kai is wrapping her wound and calling it a precaution and Paedyn says he seems to be taking a lot of precautions for a mere ordinary and he says they both know nothing about her is mere and they just stand there watching each other

• he complains about her cold feet and she says she could just sleep alone but instead he PULLS HER COLD FEET AGAINST HIM

• The Resistance rescues Paedyn and takes Kai hostage

• They both admit they don't regret each other and then KISS AGAIN

• PAEDYN SAYS SHE HATES KAI AS THEY ARE KISSING

• They are running through a city trying not to get caught and then he pulls her behind a wall and starts kissing her scar as a distraction to throw the innkeeper off but then says nothing of it after this is disappointing

• They are in the gentlemen's club with other men and playing cards and pretending to be flirty with each other and she asks why his heart is pounding and he says he's not accustomed to losing and she says he's used to the title and privelege of getting everything he wants AND HE LOOKS HER IN THE EYES AND SAYS NOT EVERYTHING

• Paedyn says she won't give Kai the satisfaction of making her laugh and Kai says then she'd be depriving him of the sound and Paedyn realizes his tone feels like dancing in a dark room and thumb wars under willow trees AH CAN THEY JUST GET BACK TOGETHER

• Kai says Ava would have been like Paedyn: formidable, recklessly bold, and powerful despite ability and Paedyn says she is none of those things and Kai says  she is much more than those things and Paedyn says he overestimates her and Kai disagrees and says he just sees her

• They are dancing and Paedyn's head is crushing Kai's arm and he says HE'D NEVER MOVE AGAIN IF IT MEANT SHE STAYED BESIDE HIM

• HE STILL WANTS HER DESPITE ALL THE THINGS SHE'S DONE

• They are riding the horse and he says let's pray the bandit's dont make an appearance and she says she didn't think of him as the type to pray and he says he didn't use to believe in a god and she says and now and he says he found proof of a paradise WHILE LOOKING AT HER

• Paedyn wishes she could douse herself in cold water and shiver until she shakes off the feeling of falling for something she knows she should be fighting

• HE SAYS THIS IS JUST PRETEND AND SHE HATES HIM FOR MAKING HER WANT THIS AND HE SAYS IT IS JUST THEM NO OBLIGATIONS NO HISTORY AND ASKS IS SHE GOING TO KISS HIM OR JUST CONTINUE ADMIRING WHAT SHE SEES

• Kai says she is not just a mission and not just another enemy for him to find SHE IS A NEED

• Kai is hurt and she hates that he is hurt and she realizes HOW TERRIBLY SHE WILL HURT ANYONE WHO DARES HURT HIM

• He says he couldn't have stopped falling in love with her if he tried

• Paedyn says she wanted to kill him and be his undoing but she wouldn't know how to live with herself if she had

• AS THEY ARE KISSING PAEDYN SAYS KAI IS HER ANCHOR AND SHE WILL SINK AS LONG AS IT'S WITH HIM

• KAI IS LETTING PAEDYN GO AND RUN AWAY BUT THEY WON'T GET TO BE TOGETHER AND HE SAYS HE WILL SPEND THE REST OF HIS LIFE TRACKING HER DOWN BECAUSE KITT WON'T LET KAI STOP HUNTING HER

• An imperial slaps Paedyn and Kai says TOUCH HER AGAUN AND I'LL SLIT YOUR THROAT SHE'S MINE

• In the epilogue Kai says he could burn the palace to the ground like he did to Paedyn's house just for a chance to confess his love before the flames consumed him

The Bad

• Kai is at Paedyn's house to kill her

• Kai burns Paedyn's house

• Kai has finally found Paedyn disguised as Shadow in the city of Dor

• NO HE SAYS THE KISS IS BETRAYAL AND RUIN SINCE SHE IS A STRANGER AND THEY ARE NOTHING TO EACH OTHER THAT'S SUCH A LIE

• NO HE'S SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR NEXT TO THE BED

• The resistance is done and the king has captured Calum and Mira and all the other members are on the run

• Kai makes it seem like he is going to kiss Paedyn and he CHAINS THEM TOGETHER SO SHE CAN'T ESCAPE

• Kai had a sister named Ava that died when she was four and that's who he was talking to in the prologue and the king kept her hidden from the kingdom even after she died that's so sad and cruel and wrong

• Paedyn read her dad's diary and there is no true disease from being an Ordinary but the king has just been bribing all the Healers with money and lying to the kingdom and killing Ordinaries to keep them from reproducing with Elites when they are just healthy innocent people so Kai has also been killing healthy innocent people under his father's orders his whole life without knowing

• Paedyn reads that her father marries a woman named Alice who is pregnant but died in childbirth and he buried her and the baby and Paedyn was left on the doorstep for him to find so she is actually an orphan

• IT SEEMS LIKE KITT IS GOING TO SENTENCE PAEDYN TO HER DEATH BUT THEN HE TELLS HER TO STAND AND ANNOUNCES THAT SHE IS TO BE HIS BRIDE WHAT I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS

• NO KAI SAYS THAT PAEDYN WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HIS FOREVER AND NOW HE WILL WATCH HER BECOME SOMEONE ELSE'S BECAUSE THE BEAST DOESN'T GET THE BEAUTY THAT'S SO SAD I HATE THAT

Who else would like this

Powerless fans who are eager to see what happens after Kai is ordered to find Paedyn. Also enemies to lovers/touch her and you die yearners.

9/10 considering I started and finished this book in less than a day it was obviously very very good I was screaming and kicking my feet anytime it seemed Kai and Paedyn were about to decide they were no longer enemies or as they put it, "pretending." After reading Powerful I didn't think it was possible for two characters to have more yearning than Adena and Mak but CLEARLY I was wrong (the sewer/pool parts???) It made me sad at the beginning to see them truly hate and genuinely want to kill each other because they're Kai and Paedyn that's not what they do and I was a bit confused as to whether they woukd actually go on hating each other (in a part of my mind I knew they would end up together but it seemed so real and convincing i

I wasn't sure) I LOVED LOVED this book but I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT APPROVE OF THE ENDING LAUREN ROBERTS THAT CLIFFHANGER HAD ME SPEECHLESS and I'm more than beyond excited and anticipated to read Fearless now!!
