Unravel Me: Book 2 in the Shatter Me Series

Intro

Juliette is adjusting to her new life at Omega Point, however she only keeps to herself and won't talk to any of the other people except Adam. Castle wants Juliette to start training with Kenji to develop more socially, plus she needs to learn to control her Energy. While she is having breakfast with Adam and Kenji, Juliette discovers there might be more to Adam than people are telling her. Juliette soon forces Kenji to tell her what's going on with Adam while discovering a new Energy in the process. Once she sees what Adam is forced to endure, she destroys a whole room with her power which causes anger from Castle and questions from everyone else. This very public display leads Castle to finally reveal a life-changing truth about what Juliette's power can do to Adam. Juliette and Adam decide to test the rumors of this power, and Adam ends up in the medical wing. While Juliette is dealing with her relationship, she has also caught attention of the Supreme Commander of Sector 45: Warner's father. After being summoned to meet with him, Juliette ends up doing things she can't control, all while Warner is there to watch it and new truths about Adam are revealed. Because of these new uncontrolled events, Juliette ends up spending a lot more time with Warner than she thought she would, which results in a night of passion and anger, all while dealing with the ever-looming threat of the Supreme Commander who is always somewhere close by.

How I came across the book

I wanted to continue the Shatter Me series since I really liked Shatter Me and Destroy Me.

The Good

• It's really interesting to see how Juliette behaves at omega point and how her life and personality has changed, especially since we see her now reacting to her own power and being advised by other people of her power

• AHH SHE SAYS SHE FINDS HERSELF THINKING ABOUT WARNER TOO MUCH

• I find it so powerful that she compares herself to Warner and says she might be the only person who's ever understood him since he has a toxic father and neither of them have lived normal lives, but then later she says that she and Warner are two synonyms but not the same because one can never be the other which I think is so inspiring because they have similar powers and grew up similarly but they are two different people with different experiences

• AHHHH SHE IS PRETENDING TO PICK UP GARBAGE AND LOOKS UP AND SEES WARNER

• YAY SHE FINALLY BREAKS UP WITH ADAM HE WAS BEING SUPER TOXIC AND SHE CAN'T LET HIM CONTROL HER ANYMORE EVEN AFTER HE ENDED UP IN THE MEDICAL WING AND THE FACT HE HAS THE NERVE TO BEG FOR HER BACK WHEN HER KISSING HIM IS WHAT GOT HIM IN THE MEDICAL WING IN THE FIRST PLACE

• WHEN SHE ASKS THEM ABOUT THE PATROLS WINSTON ASKS IF THEY REMEMBER THAT WARNER SHOWS UP EVERY NIGHT AND THEN JULIETTE CANT GET THE IMAGE OF WARNER’S SMILING LAUGHING FACE OUT OF HER HEAD BUT IT'S CROSSED OUT

• WARNER BEGGED HIS FATHER NOT TO KILL JULIETTE AND HIS FATHER TELLS JULIETTE THAT WARNER HAS NEVER BEGGED FOR ANYTHING IN HIS LIFE

• OH MY GOD WARNER'S DAD DEMANDS THAT WARNER SHOULD JUST SHOOT JULIETTE BUT THEN WARNER TURNS AROUND AND POINTS THE GUN AT HIS DAD AND THE SUPREME COMMANDER CALLS HIM AARON

• YAY JULIETTE SHOOTS ANDERSON IN BOTH HIS LEGS HOORAY

• KENJI SAYS THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE WARNER HOSTAGE

• WHATTTTTT ADAM IS STARING AT ANDERSON'S UNCONSIOUS BODY AND SAYS THAT ANDERSON IS HIS FATHER PLOT TWIST

• OH MY GODDD JULIETTE GOES INTO WARNER'S ROOM AND HE SAYS DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY TIMES IVE READ THIS AND HE HOLDS IT UP AND ITS HER NOTEBOOK

• HE READS AN ENTRY WHERE SHE IS RUNNING FROM PEOPLE AND SHE TELLS HERSELF TO RUN UNTIL HER BONES BREAK AND HE SAYS HE WANTS TO RIP THE LIMBS OFF OF THE PEOPLE SHE WAS RUNNING FROM ONE BY ONE AND HE WANTED TO MURDER THEM IN WAYS THAT WOULD HORRIFY HER TO HEAR OH MY GODDD

• AND HE APOLOGIZES FOR KISSING HER AND SAYS HE WOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT IF HE DIDN'T THINK SHE WANTED HIM TO

• WARNER IS ABLE TO TOUCH JULIETTE AND SO IS ADAM AND SINCE THEY ARE BROTHERS THEY MUST SHARE THE SAME ABILITY WHICH MEANS WARNER ALSO HAS AN ENERGY

• WARNER IS SLEEPING AND JULIETTE NOTICES ALL THE SCARS ON HIS BACK AND WHEN HE WAKES UP SHE ASKS WHO HURT YOU AND SHE FEELS LIKE SHE COULD KILL SOMEONE FOR DOING THIS TO HIM

• SHE SAYS WARNER AND THEN HE SMILES AND SAYS HE LOVES IT WHEN SHE SAYS HIS NAME AND SHE SAYS HIS NAME ISN'T WARNER HIS NAME IS AARON AND HE SMILES EVEN WIDER

• I love the story that Castle tells Juliette and Adam about the first time he met Kenji because it really shows what a bond they have and how close everyone in the Omega Point is and it makes Juliette realize she doesn't really know anything about these people

• WARNER VISITS JULIETTE AT NIGHT AND ASKS HER TO RUN AWAY WITH HIM AND SAYS SHE CANT IGNORE THE FIRE BETWEEN THEM AND STARTS KISSING HER BODY AND SAYS THAT SHE DESTROYS HIM AND SHE SAYS SHE THOUGHT HE WANTED TO BE FRIENDS AND HE SAYS HE WANTS TO BE THE FRIEND THAT SHE FALLS HOPELESSLY IN LOVE WITH

The Bad

• Why is Adam being so toxic and not telling Juliette anything that's going on in even when he says he might have his own Energy and Castle and Kenji both refuse to tell her anything either even though they both know what's going on with Adam but she's Adam's girlfriend so she deserves to know what's going on with him

• WHAT WHY IS ADAM BEING TORTURED THAT'S THE SECRET IS THAT HE'S ALL STRAPPED UP AND CONVULSING IN PAIN WHILE CASTLE DOES NOTHING THAT'S SO HORRIBLE WHY WOULD CASTLE DO THAT WHAT IS THIS FOR

• Ew Kenji asks Juliette if she is trying to bring them down from the inside and if she's just being sneaky and knows exactly what she's doing or she really has no idea what she's doing which is so unfair because she has no idea how to control this power and she has been treated horribly all her life and she doesn't even know what's going on with her and she just wants to feel safe so there is no possible way she could purposely harm people and mean all this destruction

• OH MY GOD ADAM'S ABILITY IS THAT HE CAN TURN OFF OTHER PEOPLE'S POWERS BUT HE FEELS WEAKEST WHEN HE IS WITH JULIETTE AND HE FEELS LESS THREATENED WHEN HE IS WITH HER SO SHE IS WEAKENING HIS ABILITY AND HE FEELS MORE VULNERABLE WITH HER AND HAS ALREADY FELT THE PAIN OF JULIETTE'S POWER AND WHEN HE IS WEAK JULIETTE HAS MORE POWER OVER HIM SO THAT MEANS SHE COULD KILL HIM

• JULIETTE IS KISSING ADAM ALL OVER AND SHE FEELS INDESTRUCTIBLE BUT THEN SHE REALIZES THAT IS JUST HER POWER TAKING OVER HIM AND NOW HE IS IN THE MEDICAL WING AND SHE HAS TO STAY AWAY FROM HIM

• NO NO NO CASTLE HAS A MEETING WITH JULIETTE AND KENJI AND ADAM AND SAYS THAT WARNER'S FATHER IS AT SECTOR 45 HEADQUARTERS AND HE WANTS TO TALK WHICH IS ESPECIALLY BAD SINCE HE KNOWS ABOUT JULIETTE AND ADAM ESCAPING AND IS MAD

• THE SUPREME COMMANDER SAYS HE CAN'T LET JULIETTE LIVE WHILE SHE IS SUCH A DISTRACTION IN WARNER'S LIFE AND HE CAN'T LET HIS SON PROTECT SOMEONE WHO TRIED TO KILL HIM SO HE PUSHES THE GUN IN WARNER'S HAND AND DEMANDS THAT WARNER SHOOT HER

• NOOO THE SUPREME COMMANDER DEMANDS WARNER SHOOT HIM AND TWISTS HIS ARM THAT GOT SHOT BACK SO NOW IT IS EVEN MORE HURT AND BLOODY

• THE SUPREME COMMANDER JUST SLAPPED WARNER ACROSS THE FACE WHY IS HE SUCH AN ABUSIVE FATHER I FEEL HORRIBLE FOR WARNER`

• ADAM AND WARNER ARE FIGHTING BUT THEN KENJI GETS IN THE MIDDLE AND BECAUSE WARNER IS TOUCHING JULIETTE HER POWER GOES THROUGH HIM INTO KENJI AND KENJI COLLAPSES ON THE FLOOR AND HAS TO GO TO THE MEDICAL WING AND NO ONE KNOWS IF HE WILL BE OK

• WARNER SAYS HE WANTS HER TO CALL HIM AARON BUT SHE CALLS HIM ADAM AND HE GETS MAD THAT SHE'S CHOOSING ADAM OVER HIM AND HE THOUGHT SHE WAS THE ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY SAW HIM AMD HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHY SHE ISN'T CHOOSING HIM AND HE DOESN'T WANT TO SEE HER AGAIN

• Warner's dad says he wants justice and SHOOTS JULIETTE IN THE CHEST

New fans of the Shatter Me series and mainly fans of dystopian romances.

Rating

7/10 At first I thought this book was kind of slow to get into and I thought Juliette didn't really have a personality at the beginning when she is just trapped by herself at Omega Point but once the events of the book progressed and SHE MEETS WARNER AGAIN she definetly started to have more depth as a character and I loved how Mafi explored the challenges of her relationship with Adam while also bringing in Adam's side of the story later in the book.
