When Feyre, kills a wolf in the woods to provide for her family, she doesn't expect her life to change. Hours later, a beast shows up claiming the wolf was a faerie, who is an enemy of humans, and that Feyre either be killed in front of her family or live with him in enemy land for the rest of her life but be guaranteed safety. She accepts his offer reluctantly, and at first she is skeptical of him and plans to escape, they get to know each other better and end up falling in love. When the beast, named Tamlin, tells her she must escape because an evil faerie named Amanthara could kill her if she finds out what Tamlin and Feyre mean to each other, Feyre is forced to go back and live with her family. When she comes back to find Tamlin gone, she goes to Amanthara and is forced to sacrifice everything she believes for the man she loves.

Rating
8/10 The writing and imagery of Feyre's internal monologue is so well-written, I am 100% team Tamlin and the way he treats Feyre is so sweet and caring. I love Feyre's character development, how she goes from a poor girl in a village with no money to fighting the highest power to save the man she loves. I am mixed about Rhysand because he technically is saving her and is being punished by Amanthara which makes Feyre feel bad for him, but on the other hand the way he treats her is disgusting and I hate that he treats her like his pet. I was confused when Feyre told Rhysand she would live with him every week because when the offer was initially given she hated him and only did it for Tamlin. This book had so many unexpected plot teists and didn't have me foreshadowing anything, I had no possible idea that the beast who captured Feyre at the beginning would be who she falls in love with and lives with at the end.
